Glastonbury
may be the legendary Isle of Avalon, which in Celtic lore was the 'place of
the dead'. There are also many Christian legends linked to Glastonbury (Joseph
of Arimathea traveled here and founded the first Christian church), and King
Arthur is said to have been buried here.
The Abbey is haunted by ghostly monks who have sent
messages to archaeologists in the form of automatic drawings detailing
original constructions of the building. These drawings also contained the
signatures of the monks (Gulielmus Monachus, William the Monk being one
example), and Latin words.
